An alternative to Birdeye for small businesses

Short answer
Birdeye is a broad platform for reviews, listings, social media, chat and surveys, with reviews from more than 200 sites and pricing on request. For a small business that mainly wants to answer Google reviews, tools with a public price per location are often enough, such as ReplyHero, RightResponse AI, Localo or Trustindex. For chains with a marketing team, Birdeye remains a strong choice.
Birdeye is one of the best-known names in reputation management. The US company also has an office in London, and the customer examples on its website are mostly about chains with many locations. Small businesses come across it when they look for a faster way to answer reviews.
The question then is whether you need that whole platform. In this article we look at what Birdeye does well, what you do and do not know about its price, and which alternatives fit if you mainly want to answer Google reviews. Details checked on November 4, 2026.
What does Birdeye do well?
Birdeye is strong in breadth and in rules for large networks. Its AI agent for review replies posts positive replies on its own, holds low ratings for your team and takes customer records, location memory and surveys into account. Birdeye also gathers reviews from more than 200 sites.
- Rules per location and per rating: replies to 4 and 5 stars go live on their own, while 1 and 2 stars or sensitive reviews wait for your team. You can also set a delay per location.
- Context from your systems: according to Birdeye, the agent reads the customer record, location memory and survey history, and can draw on more than 3,000 integrations.
- More than 200 review sites: you get an email or text alert when a new review appears on any of them.
- The reviewer's language: replies in the language the review was written in. Birdeye does not state how many languages.
- A complete marketing package: listings, social media, webchat, surveys, ticketing, appointments and visibility in AI search engines.
If you have many locations, several review platforms and a team that also runs listings, chat and surveys, Birdeye offers more in one package than the smaller tools in this article.
How much does Birdeye cost?
Birdeye does not list prices on its website. On the pricing page you enter your email, company, number of locations and mobile number to get a price. We did not find a free trial or free plan on the pricing and product pages.
That is common for platforms aimed at larger companies: the price depends on which modules and how many locations you take. For a small business, though, it means you only know the cost after a sales conversation. The alternatives below simply publish their price for one location.
Birdeye prices you see on other websites were not published by Birdeye itself. Always ask for a quote for your own situation.
Birdeye and smaller alternatives side by side
If you only want to answer Google reviews, the fairest comparison is with tools focused on that one job. The table shows what each vendor publicly states for one location, checked on November 4, 2026.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price for 1 location | On request | Free or €9 a month (Starter), excl. VAT | From $10 a month plus credits; Core $19 | $49 a month, $39 billed annually | Free package; automatic 29 USD per source per year |

When is a smaller tool enough?
A smaller tool is usually enough if you have fewer than a handful of locations, your reviews mostly arrive on Google and you have no separate marketing team. On a broad platform you would be paying for modules you never use.
- Most of your reviews come in through Google.
- You want to know the cost today, without a sales call.
- You already have a website, a booking system and social media, and are not looking to replace them.
- You want to choose for yourself which replies go live automatically.
- You want to be able to cancel month to month.
Customers notice the difference between a quick stock reply and a real one. In a survey of 1,002 US consumers by BrightLocal (2026), 89% expected business owners to respond to reviews, and 32% wanted a response by the following day. So even a small tool needs to reply quickly and personally.
Why small businesses choose ReplyHero
ReplyHero is made for local businesses that only want to answer Google reviews without spending much time on it. It does less than Birdeye, but it is set up in a few minutes and the price is online, including for a single location.
- Free plan: 1 location, 3 replies a month, no credit card. Starter costs €9 and Pro €19 per location per month, cancel any month.
- Three modes per location: fully automatic, a 48-hour grace period or approve yourself, and you can make low ratings always wait.
- Approve without logging in: one click from the email listing replies that are waiting.
- Facts that only appear when they fit: opening hours, parking, a booking link or an offer per location.
- Your own reply stays: if you already responded yourself, ReplyHero posts nothing.
- European: a service of NorthernLights Solutions BV in Antwerp, Belgium, with the site and portal in six languages.
What ReplyHero does not do: reviews on Facebook, Tripadvisor or other sites, review requests, listings or chat. If you need all of that, a broad platform such as Birdeye or the French Partoo makes more sense. Partoo also works with a custom quote.
How to switch in 4 steps
Switching from Birdeye to a smaller tool goes most smoothly if you first check which Birdeye features you actually use. Only cancel once the new tool has run well for a few weeks, and check your contract for the notice period.
- List the Birdeye modules you actually used in the past three months.
- Choose an alternative that covers those modules, or decide on purpose to drop something.
- Connect the new tool to your Google profile and set all replies to approval first.
- Only switch on auto-posting for 4 and 5 stars once the first replies sound right, then check your notice period with Birdeye.
Example replies
Use them as a starting point and make them personal: mention something from the review and sign with your own name.
Negative review at a garage: no template apology, but a concrete answer
Picked up my car after a service, but the tire pressure warning light is still on. Do I have to come back now?
Reply
Hi Will, sorry you saw a warning light straight after your service. That's not how it should be.
Often the system needs resetting after the tires are inflated, and it looks like that step was missed. Just drive in, no appointment needed, and we'll sort it right away. There's no charge for that, of course.

Mixed review at a hair salon: do not brush the complaint aside
Lovely color, but the cut felt very rushed. Would have liked a bit more explanation.
Reply
Thanks for your honest review, Sarah, and glad the color turned out well. You're right that a cut should come with time to explain things too.
At your next appointment, just let us know you'd like to hear more about the style and aftercare, and we'll plan time for it. See you soon!
Positive review at a bakery: short and personal
Our sourdough comes from here every Saturday, and the friendly welcome is a free bonus.
Reply
What a lovely review, Hannah, thank you! Knowing our sourdough has a regular spot in your weekend really makes our day.
By the way, on Saturdays we also bake a whole-grain sourdough with sunflower seeds. Give it a try if you fancy a change. Say hello to the whole family, and see you Saturday at the counter.
ReplyHero for comparisons
ReplyHero reads the reviews on your Google Business Profile and writes a personal reply to every new review, in the tone you choose. For each location you decide how the reply reaches Google:
- Fully automatic: ReplyHero posts the reply right away.
- With a review window: the reply waits for you for 48 hours. If you do nothing, ReplyHero posts it.
- You approve: you read the reply in your portal and post it with one click, or edit it first.
Free forever for one location, or from $9 per location per month. Cancel any month. See pricing.
Start with ReplyHeroFrequently asked questions
How much does Birdeye cost for a small business?
Birdeye does not publish that. On its pricing page you request a price through a form that asks for, among other things, your number of locations. If you want to know the price up front, look at tools that publish their price per location, such as ReplyHero, RightResponse AI, Localo or Trustindex.
Does Birdeye have a free trial?
On November 4, 2026 we found no free trial and no free plan on the pricing page or the review product pages. You can watch a demo on the site. ReplyHero has a free plan, Localo a 14-day trial and RightResponse AI a 7-day trial.
Can I make negative reviews wait with an alternative?
With several of them, yes. ReplyHero lets you make low ratings always wait for approval per location, for example 1 to 3 stars. RightResponse AI works with rules per star rating. With Localo you click to post yourself. For the Trustindex automatic add-on we found no rules per rating stated.
Is there a European alternative to Birdeye?
Yes. ReplyHero (Belgium), Localo (Poland) and Trustindex (Hungary) publish their prices and are based in the EU. Partoo from Paris is the closest to Birdeye in breadth, with reviews, listings, a store locator and messaging, and like Birdeye it works with a custom quote.
Is Birdeye too big for a single location?
Not necessarily. If you want chat, surveys, listings and social media in one package alongside reviews, Birdeye can work for a smaller business too. If you only want to answer Google reviews, a broad platform often means paying for modules you do not use.
